Douglas Milne
Douglas Milne is the founder, arranger and producer of Twinkletrax.
Douglas started playing piano at the age of seven, and wrote his first song two years later. He started playing guitar at the age of 11, and later also took up the electric bass. After playing with a number of local bands in his home town of Dunfermline, Douglas became a founding member of a local recording collective, The Encyclopaedia of Modern Transport, aka EMT, contributing keyboard and bass work, as well as writing songs.
Around the same time, Douglas was also a member of Dunfermline's Carnegie Youth Theatre, later becoming its musical director, and subsequently writing a musical, Charlie Groove's World Tour, which was performed by the Youth Theatre. This led to the founding of Douglas' next band, soul and funk outfit Face to Face, in which he was keyboard player and songwriter. Face to Face performed around east central Scotland, and also played some gigs in Germany, before folding. It was around this time that Douglas met Helen Raw, when she asked him to become musical director of the 'Act One' children's theatre.
Douglas saw a gap in the wedding band market for a band which could play anything from Scottish Country dance music to the latest chart hits, and started such a band himself, Bud, Wise and Her. The style of the band eventually settled, and a typical 5 hour set included material from all eras of rock and pop, as well as the aforementioned Scottish country dance music. Douglas was the bass player and vocalist in this much in-demand outfit prior to founding Twinkletrax in early 2008.
